Francis Bacon wrote (in the 16th century): 'Reading maketh a full man, conference a ready man, and writing an exacte man'.
My life experience tells me I can and must read; I can and should talk; I can and will write.
For reading gives me glimpses of new ideas and new possibilities. Discussion allows for clarification and reflection. But it is only when I write that my thoughts become available to others: even people I have never met, or who may not yet be born.
